About Us
Luke and Stacey
We’ve known each other for over 20 years and life has taken us on a wild, beautiful ride since then. We’re now a family of 9 — and while life can be busy, it’s rarely chaotic. We've built a rhythm that works for us — one centred around family, faith, and purpose.
Around 2020, something shifted. We started looking at life differently. It wasn’t about chasing money anymore — it was about time, connection, and being truly present for these precious years with our kids.
After years of working for others, we stepped out to build something of our own.
Now, we run a short-term accommodation business in Newcastle, manage our Henny Penny Hatching franchise (delivering eggs and baby chicks to schools and centres), and homeschool all of our children.
We live on a little slice of land in Lake Macquarie, NSW with over 40 chickens, some cheeky ducks, a thriving veggie patch, and lots of barefoot kids. It’s here that The Humbled Home was born — a place to share what we’re learning, what we’re building, and to welcome others in.
Whether you want to learn how to bake sourdough, kill and prepare your own chicken, join a workshop, browse our handmade goods, or just come for a sticky beak — our door’s open. This is real life, and we’re glad you’re here.
What We Do
The Humbled Home is more than just a homestead — it’s a space for learning, connecting, and living intentionally.
Here’s what we’re all about:
🐓 Workshops & Experiences
We open our home to others through seasonal workshops that teach hands-on homesteading and family life skills — from making sourdough and natural cleaning products, to raising chicks and harvesting from the garden. We also run term-based homeschool workshops and nature play sessions for younger children.
🧺 Homemade Goods & Handpicked Favourites
We offer a range of homemade, homestead-inspired products and carefully selected items we personally use in our own home — practical, natural, and beautiful. These are available online and at our local events.
👨👩👧👦 Community Events
We host homeschool markets and gatherings designed to bring families together — to trade, connect, share skills, and build real relationships.
🐣 Henny Penny Hatching
As franchise owners, we deliver hatching programs to early childhood centres and schools, giving kids a magical, hands-on learning experience with real chicks.
🏡 Family Life & Homesteading Inspiration
Through our Instagram, website, and community presence, we share the behind-the-scenes of our large homeschooling family, our homestead journey, and what it means to slow down and live with purpose.
Our Heart Behind It
We believe childhood should be wonder-filled.
This workshop was created to share our love for homesteading and slow living with other families, giving kids the opportunity to experience skills that are often
lost in the fast-paced world we live in.
It’s a chance for kids to:
→ Learn by doing
→ Connect with nature
→ Build independence and confidence
→ And most of all — feel a sense of belonging and pride in what they create.
