Our Story

Luke & Stacey,
a family of nine.

A love for family and real food, and a shared vision for a life of abundance — growing, gathering, and being fruitful, then sharing it with the community around us.

Luke and Stacey with our youngest

We've known each other for over 20 years and life has taken us on a wild, beautiful ride since then. We're now a family of nine — and while life can be busy, it's rarely chaotic. We've built a rhythm that works for us, one centred around family, faith, and purpose.

Around 2020, something shifted. We started looking at life differently. It wasn't about chasing money anymore — it was about time, connection, and being truly present for these precious years with our kids.

It wasn't about chasing money anymore — it was about time, and being truly present.

After years of working for others, we stepped out to build something of our own. Now we run a short-term accommodation business in Newcastle and homeschool all of our children — fitting our work around family life rather than the other way around.

We live on a slice of land in Lake Macquarie, NSW with over 40 chickens, some cheeky ducks, a thriving veggie patch, and lots of barefoot kids. It's here that The Humbled Home was born — a place to share what we're learning, what we're building, and to welcome others in.

What We Do

More than a shopfront — a way of life.

Every product comes with a story, and every story starts on our homestead.

The garden
01 · The Garden

We grow to learn, not just to sell

Most of our produce boxes come from growers we trust at Newcastle Farmers Market. We grow our own too — mainly to teach the kids (and ourselves) about freshness, seasons, and the real value of food. Now and then, when something's in season and the timing's right, our own harvest makes it into a box.

Our free range chickens
02 · The Flock

Eggs from genuinely free hens

Forty-plus chickens with the run of the property. They eat scraps, scratch for bugs, and lay beautifully — the way hens are meant to live.

Our beehives on the property
03 · The Hive

Raw honey from our own bees

The kids help us tend the hives. Small-batch, unprocessed honey — the way it's been done for centuries, with little hands learning right alongside us.

Marking eggs for incubation with the kids
04 · The Learning

Where every day teaches something

Here we're marking eggs for the incubator — one of a hundred small lessons the kids pick up living this way. Where food comes from, how life begins, the patience it takes. The homestead is their classroom.

Our Heart Behind It

We believe childhood should be wonder-filled.

Everything we do — the homestead, the chickens, the produce boxes, the workshops we're building toward — is centred on the kind of life we want our kids to remember. Slower. Closer to the dirt. Connected to where things come from. Surrounded by people who do real work with their hands.
